These are OEM Kohler cylinder heads, not the cheaper lightweight Chinese imitations that warp easily due to the inferior aluminum used in manufacturing. Head has been bead blasted and mating surface machined perfectly flat. Spark plug threads are perfect as are both engine tin mounting threads. No broken or damaged cooling fins either. Fits K241 K301 K321 10, 12, and 14 HP engines. Comes with a small package of anti-seize to apply on spark plug threads so that future replacement of spark plug doesn’t cause damage to threads, and two new mounting bolts for the engine tins. Everything you need to get back to work quick. We don’t paint our heads, doing so can cause heat to be retained which can cause uneven cooling leading to carbon build-up and hard cold starts. Purchasing a used cylinder head which hasn’t been cleaned and inspected is a risky venture. Most are filthy and cannot possibly have been properly checked with a straight edge. Buyers install the used head and a few hours of running time later are left stranded on their tractor with a blown head gasket. Many sellers will list heads without regard to its condition. They remove the head, take a quick picture, then post it for sale. Some 90% of the heads we remove from good running engines are warped to some degree and are not suitable for use unless they are machined. Doing the job right the first time will save you time, labor, increase your tractor’s productivity, and ensure your engine operates up to its full potential. Did you know that carbon buildup on the cylinder head acts similar to a sponge and absorbs raw fuel which contributes to poor cold starting conditions and rough operation when engine is running? Any major tune-up should include the removal and decarbonizing of the head. Removing any paint and grease from exterior of head promotes more efficient cooling by allowing heat to travel to cooling fins where it can dissipate into the air. Always insure the engine tins are installed. They force air to flow through the cooling fins on the cylinder and the head. Otherwise air will take the path of least resistance and flow around the engine. Lastly, check the screen on the flywheel and make sure it’s clear of grass clippings and debris. Cool air is pulled in through the screen and if it’s restricted it will greatly decrease the volume of air needed for cooling. Ready to mow but the transmission feels a little sluggish to me. Battery is good and tires hold air. Extra parts include two blades, grass chute, the deck pulley guards one broken off deck wheel (the other broken off one is missing but it mows fine without them). The hood has damage in several areas but still works fine, the body has a small crack on each side, the steering is a little loose but works fine.
