This gearbox is no longer available new. It has been cleaned and inspected for any cracks or breaks, then new bearings and a new cam follower were installed and the reticulated polyurethane foam gasket was replaced with new. The gears have been cleaned and inspected for excessive wear, adjusted properly, and filled with high quality marine grease. It has no slop and it spins perfectly smooth. This gearbox is as good as new and is ready for immediate installation once you receive it. Other sellers may list parts which haven’t been cleaned so there’s no way they could have been properly inspected, and no way you can be assured there isn’t hidden damage beneath all that grease. What can be hiding beneath that grease? Many of these steering gear boxes develop a bad seal which allows moisture intrusion, and when it freezes this moisture turns to ice and expands causing the aluminum housing to crack. Rear fine spline axles, the two-piece carrier, and the bearing cups removed from an 1811. These are the 1 fine spline axles and everything is in excellent condition. This heavy-duty pulling set-up will slide right into every cast iron and aluminum rear end from narrow frame, wide frame, to spread frames with the entire process taking less than three-hours from start-to-finish on average. And the best thing about it is there’s no need for axle tube modifications. Just slide it in and go. Note: On older models and all narrow frames the ring gears will need to be switched on the differentials. Every possible effort is made to keep these parts clean. First the entire transaxle is pressure washed, then we use high pressure air to further remove any dirt or other foreign particles. All parts are then carefully removed in a clean environment, washed in solvent, blow dried with compressed air, and then thoroughly inspected for damage. Then everything is tightly wrapped in shrink film to further protect them from contamination. We take your hydraulic system seriously and have seen the problems caused by sloppy dismantlers who simply don’t take the time or don’t have the equipment to properly remove and inspect what they sell. Don’t take the chance and end up having problems down the road. It’s impossible for other sellers to state the condition of their parts unless they have removed all dirt, grime, and grease, which most do not do.
