Due to increased customer requests, we are now building new drive shafts for the John Deere 400. These have a new style greasable and serviceable u-joint for long life. They will also have the cooling fan welded on the rear yoke. The main shaft is made from solid keyed shaft and the yokes are all held in place by double set screws with thread locker on each yoke. The engine yoke will also have double set screws provided so you will not have to fight with the standard roll pin in the tight quarters of the engine area. The rear yoke will not have any set screws as it was always designed as a slip fit to allow for engine and frame movement as well as thermal expansion without putting stress on the drive shaft. The only part we need from your old drive shaft is the fan end. We need it in order to weld the fan onto the new drive shaft. If you can get just the fan end off, that is all we need. If you can’t get just the fan end off, you can send the whole drive shaft and we will remove the fan and throw the rest of the drive shaft out. If you have any questions, please ask.
